coaching

Different from most coaches, I prefer face-to-face sessions in my NDG/Montreal West office, but I'm adapting to modern technology, and now anyone can arrange for telephone or online coaching with me. In fact, many of my clients find it very helpful that they can speak with me easily between their office sessions... or instead of coming in!

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

COACHING

THERAPY

  • attain specific goals/desires
  • create personal fulfillment
  • vision, "How?" "What next?"
  • client wants to move toward goals
  • relieve pain, symptoms
  • restore functioning
    history, "Why?"
  • patient wants to move away from pain
  • learning, educational, practical model
  • life transitions, personal growth, human relations
  • paradigm of possibility
  • medical/clinical model
  • diagnosable illnesses
  • paradigm of pathology
  • coach as co-creator; a partnership of equals
  • therapist as expert; client as patient

Coaching is psycho-educational; more about skill-building than the psychological aspects.

I believe that most divorces occur because people simply don't have the skills to get through the tough, frustrating times, and eventually disconnect from each other as a reaction to their frustration, anger or disappointment.

So, Relationship Coaching is about the 'tools' that we all need to improve communication, connection, trust and respect in our interpersonal relationships... while breaking free from negative behavior patterns and relationship ruts. My job is to help you become skilled enough to create the relationship(s) and life that you want!

As a problem-solution approach, we work on opening lines of communication between the involved parties and designing workable strategies for resolving disputes, rebuilding bonds, and improving communication patterns, understanding, and acceptance.

Family & Relationship Coaching can move you and yours in the right direction to inner peace, family harmony, self-esteem, freedom from past hurts and wounds to a better life.

Please note:

Although Family & Relationship Coaching is said to be highly therapeutic, it is not therapy. I am not a therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist... although I sometimes sound like one!

Many clients are referred to me here or on my other site (www.divorcesupportplus.ca) by former clients as well as recommended by teachers, social workers, lawyers, and judges.
